About The Course
This course has been developed as an online, for-credit course. This course can also be converted to a face to face course. Using neuroscience to understand human behavior, learning, and brain health, is the logical means to enhancing awareness and skill development. In this course, students will gain a better understanding of how the brain functions, engages, and makes meaning out of experiences. They will also learn about the four pillars of brain health and how to improve their cognitive fitness.
The course design applies student-centered, experiential learning theories. Therefore, throughout the course, students will engage in multi-sensory, participatory learning activities and group discussions. Students will reflect on the readings from the scholarly literature and their own experiences. Students will also have the opportunity to experiment with various cognitive enhancement technologies. For the culminating project, students will demonstrate competence by applying their new learning to create their own cognitive fitness plan to improve their personal and professional performance. ~Maggie Rouman
